Present members

This year is Kingston Youth Concert Band's 25th Anniversary!! Have we really been going for that long?? To celebrate, we are organising a party for present and past members (and maybe some future members too!) and we would like to ask you for some help.

The party will be held at Teddington School on 11th July and is an all day event. The day will begin at 12pm with a rehearsal for the 'oldies' band, and will officially start at 2pm with a concert from both the present band and the 'oldies' band. Following this will be a meal/social get together and then a casual set from the Big Band (more than likely from all eras) to finish off the evening.

We've decided to try and keep this one at an affordable level to attract as many people as possible, but to cover basic costs there will be a cover charge of £5 per head, with no charge for current band members. We will also be holding a raffle with, we hope, some super large prizes donated from local businesses. The hall and stage will be transformed with cloths, flowers, proper china and glass, but we will need you to bring your own drink, so that we do not have to get a licence. "How can they provide all that and a meal for £5?" we hear you ask. Well that's were you come in.

The food part is where we need your help. We want to be able to feed all the current band members, their families and all the past members who wish to come. We would ask each family to bring 2 dishes along, each big enough to feed 6-8 people. The proposed menu is on the reverse of this sheet, and will be coordinated by Shelley MacDonald, to avoid unnecessary duplication.

We have thought long and hard about this event - a rather special one, I'm sure you'll agree - and feel that doing it like this really captures the spirit of KYCB, the social togetherness it has created over the past 25 years. We hope that you'll feel that too, and that you'll want to get involved in a really fantastic celebration! We obviously need to know numbers for this event, so we will be selling tickets in advance to both the past band members and yourselves. Please help us, and yourselves, by booking early and returning the form below promptly. I think you'll agree that for £5 this will be a great, whole day of entertainment.

P.S. Nearer the time, we will also be asking if there is anybody out there who would like to help with decorating the hall - mini flower arrangements etc. - so please let us know if you are gifted in that area - or just happy to help!

KYCB Silver Jubilee Menu

· Nibbles to go on the tables - i.e. olives, crisps, nuts

· Green salad

· Mixed salad

· Couscous salad, with chopped vegetables

· Rice salad - probably with saffron, raisins and cashews

· Coleslaw

· Potato salad

· Cold meat platter

· Coronation chicken

· Quiche Lorraine (with bacon etc.)

· Red pepper and goats cheese quiche (vegetarian)

· Stuffed red and yellow peppers

· French bread and butter

· Pavlova

· Tiramisu (made to Miranda's secret recipe!)

· Fresh fruit salad and cream.

Coffee and tea will be served all afternoon and after dinner (at a small charge).

Don't forget that although we will be providing glasses, you will need to bring your own drinks with you.
