The Kingston Youth Big Band

Since it's inception in 1985, The Kingston Youth Big Band has been going from strength to strength.

Playing a wide range of jazz from ballroom to festival enables the band to perform at a variety of occasions. Starting with traditional swing band dance evenings and small pit bands for local schools the band now mainly plays full jazz concerts. Always working hard, KYBB has earned recognition playing at such festivals as the Soho Jazz Festival - London, Delft Jazz festival - Holland, and at major circuit venues; the Bulls Head - Barnes and the 100 Club - London, and received acclaim at the Music for Youth festival at the QEH - London.

As well as a busy schedule of regular gigs in and around the borough, the Band also tours each year. Countries visited include Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Canada, and this year returning to Germany and onto Italy to take part in First Italian Youth Band Festival.

A recent spin off from the band is a 9 piece jazz group, for the most promising band members to excel and specialise in a small group environment. With this much performance experience can be gained so watch the press for dates!
